After the “it’s a small world” event, I was on a high. It could have been that I was up very early, but I think it was also the energy in the air. The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was about to get underway. We walked into the registration area, and the fun began.
The girls were greeted by several Characters and Emma couldn’t wait to get her arms around them. While I was checking in, the girls were off getting their pictures taken with their newfound friends and learning about the Disney Wild About Safety campaign. It’s a fun campaign that helps kids understand the importance of being safe in various situations.
While the girls were off with my mom, I walked over to the NewBalance area and checked in for the runDisney event that would take place later in the weekend. There was speculation that New Balance would be giving us a pair of new running shoes, and the rumors where correct. Funny how a new pair of shoes will give you a new appreciation for running.
After we checked in, we had several hours before the welcome reception. We hit the parks and went straight to Big Thunder Railroad, since it’s finally open after being closed for renovations. Emma has been wanting to ride that ride for so long, and her wishes finally came true.
I headed back to the hotel where we met on the Magic Kingdom Lawn for the opening events. Leanne Jakubowski (Director, Social Media), Michele Himmelburg (Director Disneyland PR), and Michael Colglazier (Disney Resort President) kicked off the events and got us ready for what was coming.
While we enjoyed a pre-dinner cocktail, a representative from Coppertone was on hand to tell us about their latest products. I’ll be forever grateful for this, since we somehow had left all of our sunscreen at home. Oh the irony.
Later in the evening, we met up with our families at Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree for a family-style dinner. Disney-Magic of Healthy Living was on hand to share the new TRYit! food line. These new snack packs for kids were inspired by families to provide a healthy grab-and-go snack option.
The evening really came to life with meet-and-greets from several Disney Characters. Families were singing and dancing to the live band, providing us with another magical night.
I was invited to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration conference. I was provided compensation or product for review. All opinions are my own. Thank you to Josh Hallett for taking photos throughout the event.
