Disney Social Media Moms has done it again. They’ve announced the dates for their annual conference, one I’m sure a lot of us wouldn’t want to miss! But did you know the Disney Social Media Moms celebration has an On the Road conference too?
Last month, I had the pleasure of attending Disney Social Media Moms, On the Road event at Disneyland. For those of you unfamiliar with the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, it’s an invitation-only conference that provides social media content, Disney updates, and empowering speakers.
The DisneySMMC first started at WDW in Florida. But over the years, it has grown into a highly coveted event. So much so, they started the On the Road series. This smaller, one-day conference is jammed pack with amazing content. So you can imagine my excitement to be invited back.
Since the girls were still out of school, we decided to head up to Disneyland a few days early. It was a typical hot summer day, so of course our first stop was for a Dole Whip.
There’s so much I love about this event. First, the content Disney provides us is amazing. Especially as a huge Disney fan and mom. It’s also a great time to connect with those online friends we’ve met over the years.
Leanne O’Regan, Director of Public Relations at WDW, wasted no time in getting us excited for the big day. She opened the one-day event with a warm welcome and let us know there would be several surprises along the way. First up was Disneyland Public Relations Director, Michele Himmelberg. Michele shared with us the latest news and events around the Disney community. From Shanghai Disney to the latest at Disneyland, there is so much happening.
A great way to follow along with the latest news and events is to stay up to date with the Disney Parks Blog. If you can’t make it to the parks, they’ll have live streaming events this year and behind-the-scenes videos for you to feel like you’re in the parks.
When Leanne announced our first speaker, I might have been brought back to 1990. I was thrilled to see Tiffani Thiessen walk out onto the stage. With Saved by the Bell and 90210 behind her, Tiffany is now a mom of two and an inspiring chef. She has her own show, Dinner at Tiffani’s, and shared her life story and career success with us. I love it when Tiffani said, “I don’t succeed everyday, but I try.” There’s so much truth to that quote.
Just when you think that couldn’t be topped, ABC Weather Anchor Ginger Zee came running out to greet us. And let me tell you, my mother was without words when she saw me with Ginger. Ginger talked about the power of social media and how she handles being in the spotlight. After finding out she was pregnant, she realized quickly that you make changes to your lifestyle, but still live a full life. She is lovely.
But in true Disney fashion, they saved the best for last. Moana. I’m not going to go into too much detail, because I don’t want to give anything away. But holy smokes. We were told there would be a moment that all electronic devices had to be put away, because we got an incredible sneak peak. Every time a new Disney Animation film comes out, I don’t think I could love it more. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room. This one will be at the top for a long time. I can’t wait for November to see it in its entirety.
After a quick good-bye from Mickey and friends, I left to meet up with my family in the park. There was some serious magic going on there without me and I couldn’t wait to catch up. First, Addie finally hit the much anticipated 40-inch height.
Then to find out our daughter Emma had hit 48 inches. Gah! I was hoping we had more time with these girls, but they’re growing up so fast! This is one of the reasons our family loves Disney so much, it helps keep the magic alive for as long as possible.
It was such a fantastic trip. Thank you to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration team for including us on this incredible trip.
