I’ve written so many post-election pieces that haven’t been published here. We felt this past election year was hard on a lot of people, our family included. As parents of two young girls, we were constantly faced with questions about the integrity of each candidate. It was during that time we felt a shift in society and a need to do something. This is how we came up with Greater Ink. We are working to create the change we want to see.
I tend to be on the uptight side. I like things a certain way and I am rarely patient. If I ask for something, I like it immediately. Apparently not the entire universe works this way. Moving to Southern California has given me a pass to let things go and not worry so much. After almost two year, it’s finally working. I’m finally understanding self care and taking care of me first. continued
We are just under thirty days away from our big trip to Europe. I’ve talked about how 2017 was going to be an adventure, and we’re actually following through with it. Europe, here we come. My mom will be taking care of our dog, house guest coming to visit (even though we won’t be here) and a new alarm that I’m sure will go off several times because my mother can’t remember the code. All that being said, people keep asking me how we are going to pack for a long vacation when traveling to Europe this summer.
It’s been a while since I’ve taken a stroll down the eBay path. But recently I fell down the rabbit hole when I went searching for those really cute Victoria Beckham kid dresses. You know, the ones Target put out and they were sold out in 2.2 seconds. Of course I found all the dresses… Channel handbags… Kendra Scott jewelry… books for my kids… you name it, it’s on eBay!
I’ve shared my Wednesday Wants here before but here are a few things I found on eBay this week… continued
I’ve been writing about Disneyland for a long time. I think Emma was just 15 months old when we when to Disneyland for the first time. Over the years we’ve managed to spend a lot of time at Disneyland, a couple trips to Walt Disney World, and Aulani seems to be our home away from home. This summer, we’ll add Disneyland Paris to our Disney dream list. Writing about Disney has been a passion of mine; something that I’ve loved doing over the years and will keep doing as long as we keep going. continued
I’m sure we are all running on the same fumes these days. By the time we pick up the kids, go to after school activities, and do homework… well we sometimes forget how to include dinner in that mess. We really don’t like eating out that much, so I’ve been trying different meal subscription options to save our dinnertime routine. It’s taken a while, but we have finally found Sun Basket to be one of the best out there. continued
There might be a few moment of the day where I
waste spend time looking around the internets at a few of my favorite things. Before we moved from San Francisco to Southern California, I had to get rid of a lot of things that we just couldn’t move. We then spent a year in a temporary home until we finally moved into our forever home. Since the big purge, I have a really hard time actually buying anything. But that doesn’t stop me from dreaming and seeing what’s new and exciting.
Here’s a my list of this weeks Wednesday wants… continued
In getting ready for our summer vacation, we want to incorporate a few landmarks that would hopefully be memorable to our children. Traveling at such a young age, it’s hard to know what they’ll remember in the years to come. One of our stops this summer is Amsterdam. I’ve always wanted to visit the Anne Frank house, but not sure how to explain the Holocaust and why we need to honor this young girl. I immediately started a search for children’s books about Anne Frank. Not only did I find the perfect book about Anne Frank, but I stumbled upon WHOHQ and opened an entire library of goodness for young readers. continued
Being in California, we rarely travel East. My sister has lived in Arlington, Virginia and after five years we’re just now going to visit. For some reason, traveling East just seems difficult, especially with two small children. When we were invited to Nashville, Tennessee, I thought this would be a great time to go. Nashville has been on my life list for some time and I was really excited. I also couldn’t believe we’d be so close to Memphis. Just an uneventful three and a half hour drive and we were rolling in. continued
We recently celebrated International Women’s Day. I wanted to find something meaningful to give to my girls that would somehow empower them and let them know they could pretty much do anything if they had the desire and support behind them. I don’t know where I saw it, but I found the book Players in Pigtails by Shana Corey and couldn’t wait to read it to them. Softball has become a huge part of our life now and our weekends seem to be consumed by the sport. Books like this have been a great tool for parents who are raising girls who love sports. continued
