In February of 2014, I sat next to my friend Jaime at a conference. We laughed and got caught up with each other’s lives. It was just a month later that Jaime told us she had breast cancer. Jaime is the brightest light. She fought cancer several times now and here she is again. This time is a bit different. This time, the fight is harder. And we need to rally again, even bigger than before.
Five years. Five years are how long I have been a Girl Scout troop leader for my oldest daughter. And now, my youngest just started her Girl Scout journey and is a new Daisy Scout. For those of you who know me, you know I have a love-hate relationship with this commitment. It is a commitment. And a huge commitment if you want to do it right and make a difference in the lives of these girls who show up.
Last month I started writing for a travel blog contributing on a monthly basis about places I’ve been and want to share. She’s On The Go is a travel blog written by your best girlfriends that you didn’t know you had. They’re there to talk about everything you need to know about travel – where to go, what to see, what to wear, and even who to take with you on your next adventure. I’ll be contributing to their site from the perspective of a woman vs. traveling as a family. I have plenty of those stories to share here, but every once in a while you can see things differently when you travel alone… which I rarely if ever do.
Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Disney Cruise Line, Disney Wonder. Living very close to the San Diego harbor, we’ve watched the Disney Wonder sail in and out several times a year. So I was thrilled to attend their media day and get an exclusive tour of the Disney Wonder. You guys, I’m not going to lie… as the day went on, I kept texting my husband to tell him what an amazing experience I was having. And I never left the dock!
You know when you wake up and try to remember the day and think, how did we get here? The summer months just flew by and now we are scrambling around in disbelief. School begins in just a couple days and like every year, it snuck up on us.
One of the best conferences I have ever been to is the Disney Social Media Moms event. This invite-only event is one of a kind and an amazing experience. I have been very fortunate to attend the main conference twice, and On The Road events several times now. As a huge Disney family and influencer, I have never taken these opportunities for granted and am thrilled to share with you the latest happenings with the Disney Parks, Cruise lines, and movies. continued
Every year, we get so excited for Halloween time at the Disneyland resort. This year things are going to be even spookier, and we can’t wait. Tickets go on sale today for Mickey’s Halloween Party. Pass holders, DVC members, and Disney Visa Card holders can get their tickets starting today. Then they go on sale next week for the general public. You’ll want to act fast with all the new features Disneyland has added to make Halloween spectacular in true Disney form. Halloween time at Disney will sell out. So don’t wait to get your tickets. We’ve been going for years, it’s a really great event.
I’ve written so many post-election pieces that haven’t been published here. We felt this past election year was hard on a lot of people, our family included. As parents of two young girls, we were constantly faced with questions about the integrity of each candidate. It was during that time we felt a shift in society and a need to do something. This is how we came up with Greater Ink. We are working to create the change we want to see.
I tend to be on the uptight side. I like things a certain way and I am rarely patient. If I ask for something, I like it immediately. Apparently not the entire universe works this way. Moving to Southern California has given me a pass to let things go and not worry so much. After almost two year, it’s finally working. I’m finally understanding self care and taking care of me first. continued
We are just under thirty days away from our big trip to Europe. I’ve talked about how 2017 was going to be an adventure, and we’re actually following through with it. Europe, here we come. My mom will be taking care of our dog, house guest coming to visit (even though we won’t be here) and a new alarm that I’m sure will go off several times because my mother can’t remember the code. All that being said, people keep asking me how we are going to pack for a long vacation when traveling to Europe this summer.
