Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters

luigi's rollickin roadsters

We have a new favorite in the Disney California Adventure park. Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters opened in March and we can’t get enough of it. This week, my girls were singing the theme song before we even had our bags packed and ready to hit the road. continued

Disneyland during the holidays #DisneyHolidays

Last year, I offered ten reasons to visit Disneyland during the holidays. This year is no different. Every year we go, there is something new and exciting to share with you. However, I still have my can’t-miss favorites too. Disneyland during the holidays is full of holiday cheer, you won’t be disappointed.

Here are even more reasons why you need to visit Disneyland during the holidays. If you have FROZEN fans in your house, you’re in for a real treat this year.

Buena Vista Street
Buena Vista Street is new to Disneyland California Adventure. There’s a 50-foot Christmas tree in the middle of Carthay Circle along Buena Vista Street. The 1920s themed tree will be decorated with vintage-style ornaments, just as Walt envisioned. Santa will also be on Buena Vista Street. Children can visit him at Elias & Co., the main department store along this street.

Lighten your load, use a locker!

The first few times we visited Disneyland, I loved having our huge stroller in the park with us. This allowed me to pack everything under the sun in the large basket under the stroller. Now that we’re using a much smaller umbrella stroller, I can’t do that anymore. And what about the souvenirs and gifts for family members that you might acquire throughout the day? continued

The best parade seating

Disney parades are fantastic. They’re full of action, lots of characters, and energetic music. I’ve seen the same parade more times than I can count, but it never gets old. Most importantly, my children love the parades. The key to enjoying any parade is to find a comfortable spot with a good view. The parade route typically runs from “It’s a Small World” to the Town Square promenade. Sometimes it runs in reverse, but the route is typically the same. continued

Meet Oswald, the lucky rabbit

Have you ever wondered who that crazy character is at the entrance of California Adventure? You know, the one that kind of looks like Mickey Mouse? Every time we walk past Oswald’s on Buena Vista Street, I hear people ask about him. There’s a little confusion over this character.

Oswald is a rabbit. A lucky rabbit. Oswald is over 80 years old, created even before Mickey Mouse. He’s been gaining popularity lately with Disney’s revival of early characters. Now you can meet him in person at DCA.

Starting today, you can find Oswald on Buena Vista Street between the main entrance and Hyperion Bridge, from park opening until 7 p.m.

After your meet-and-greet, head over to Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream and order the “Oswald” ice cream sundae! Yum!

Starbucks is now open on Main Street, U.S.A

Starbucks in now open in the Market House location on Main Street, U.S.A. While the proprietor is new, as well as the layout, I’m glad to see they preserved the charm.

The newly renovated Market House still has the charm and feel of old school Disney. They even kept the phones on the wall so you can still listen in on yesteryear.

Market House joins other Disney Parks locations serving Starbucks. You can grab another cup of coffee over at the  Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe at Disney California Adventure park. This location opened with the new park renovation last year. We can also look forward to two new locations coming to the Downtown Disney District very soon.

Celebrating your special day at Disneyland

So many of us travel to the Disney Parks to celebrate a special occasion. Whether it be a birthday, anniversary, or a “first visit,” Disney wants to celebrate with you.

We’ve been celebrating birthdays at Disneyland for a few years now. Both my husband and daughter have been lucky to get a few extra treats because they were wearing their birthday buttons.

At Disneyland, head into Town Hall and get your celebration button from Guest Relations. Throughout the day, you’ll have both Cast Members and park guests wishing you a happy birthday or congratulating your special day. Emma was thrilled when a cupcake came to the table for her 3rd birthday. Who knew the Mad Hatter could sing “Happy Birthday” so well!

On our last trip, my husband was very happy he left his birthday button on. You just never know who is watching. We ordered beignets from the Mint Julep, and were pleasantly surprised to find a few extra treats of powdery goodness in our bag.  A little extra pixie dust goes a long way!

Disneyland’s “World of Color − Winter Dreams” will debut in November

If you love Disneyland at Christmas, you are in for a real treat. Disneyland just announced changes to the traditional World of Color. They’ll be debuting “World of Color – Winter Dreams” just in time for the holidays. The new show will have a mix of classic scenes blended with new animation.

You can see “World of Color − Winter Dreams” at Disney California Adventure park starting November 15, 2013.

Bringing CALIFORNIA to the State Fair

If you haven’t been to Disneyland’s California Adventure in a while, you’d notice there was something missing. I remember walking into the entry and coming to a sudden stop. Where did CALIFORNIA go? The 12′ C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A letters that stood tall at the main entrance to Disneyland’s California Adventure park were gone. The letters were removed in January of 2011 to make way for the newly re-designed DCA park.

The letters now have a new home. After two years, the letters are now proudly displayed at the California State Fair, just in time to celebrate the State Fair’s 160th anniversary. After the fair, plans are to move the letters and integrate them into the new entrance into Cal Expo, high enough for all to see.

The State Fair will be open now through July 28th. Visit Big Fun for fair details.
