You know when you wake up and try to remember the day and think, how did we get here? The summer months just flew by and now we are scrambling around in disbelief. School begins in just a couple days and like every year, it snuck up on us.

Happy New Year! Yep, it’s January 18th and I’ve been silent for a very long time around here. Mainly because I haven’t been sure about what I want to do with this space. For many of us, 2016 was a year full of high’s and low’s. From the election, health issues, changing ventures, and moving again… I just don’t know where to begin. So I won’t. Remember how excited I was about the New Balance running shoes? Well, I don’t think I was as excited about getting up at 5:00am for a runDisney fun run. That was, until I met up with the other runners who also signed up. But, it’s not every day you get to participate is something so awesome. Running through the empty parks early in the morning with your new blogging friends is such a great feeling.
After we checked-in for the run, a New Balance representative gave us tips on running and we participated in a “good form” clinic. I actually learned a few things that might actually help me on longer runs. We also had a presentation by runDisney where they announced the bling for the upcoming WDW and DL park races. As much as I would love one of those medals, I don’t think I can run a half marathon. Nevertheless, we finished our 2 mile run very early that morning. continued
It was just a couple weeks ago that I told you how busy life has become. I thought after a couple weeks of our new routine, things would have settled a bit. I was wrong. We’re still running around like crazy, trying to catch up. Or keep up. I’m not sure which one really. However, we did squeeze in a trip to Disneyland over Labor Day. I ran in the runDisney Family Fun Run 5k.
Even though I was running on empty, the race was fun. It was a lot hotter than I would have liked, but I finished. I do owe a huge thank you to my friends Yvonne and Nick for running at my pace. The heat and humidity were hard to handle, but they never left me in the dust!
Are you a runner? I’m certainly not, but I’m a huge Disney fan and I’m willing to try anything once. When I saw several people talking about runDisney, I had no idea what they were talking about. It wasn’t long after I heard about these events, I found myself signed up for my first Disneyland 1/2 Marathon Weekend. We’ll be running the 5k just over 49 days from now. Gulp.
Disney has an entire running franchise called runDisney. They host full marathons to family fun runs several weekends each year at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Parks. If you’re a runner, this is certainly the place where your running dreams will come true.
A few days ago, Disney announced they’ll be having an additional run take place at Disneyland, The Tinker Bell 10k. This run will take place in January during the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend. So for those of us who have, or will, conquer the 5k…this is the one for you!
These events have limited availability and sell out quickly. I recommend signing up for their email alerts so you’re ready to register. These events are so much fun, I don’t want you to miss out!
