Crafting with Perler beads

Crafting with Perler Beads

I walked in my daughters playroom today and found a huge mess on her craft table. Beads were everywhere. But before I could lose my mind, I noticed how many really awesome things she’s created with Perler beads. If you haven’t had the pleasure of using these beads, just wait. They are tiny little things that I have the worst time getting ahold of. But for little fingers? They’re fantastic.

She spends hours making fun little bead art and gives them away to anyone who will take one. On our recent home remodel, she made individual gifts for all the guys working on our house who have since become family. She’s taken these to school on her “share day” and now has her entire class hooked on making fun bead art. Some of these kids really knock it out of the park with their original designs. continued

DIY Planes Gift Wrap and Travel Bags

I might have been the last one to see Planes, Fire and Rescue. My husband took our oldest daughter to see it in the theater when the movie first came out. I’ve been waiting not so patiently for it to get released in the iTunes Store. Recently we all piled onto the couch and watched it together as a family, and loved it. continued

The Amazing Zhus

The holidays are almost here. I know this because I find myself saying to our daughters, “put it on your list” every time we leave the house. We have a pretty firm rule in our household for Christmas. The girls get two gifts each. One from “Santa” and one from Mom and Dad. But, that doesn’t stop the rest of the family from sending a gift or two.

Recently we received The Amazing Zhus Magician Pets to add to our holiday gift guide. Our girls were eager to open their new pet, “The Great Kardini.” Kardini is one of four different Stunt Pet characters. Kardini is the stunt pet that can perform tricks and even vanish before your eyes. continued

Top 5 must-have baby gifts

One of the most overwhelming details about having a baby is buying all of those much needed survival items. When I was pregnant with our first baby, I think we had over two hundred items on our baby registry. We didn’t know what we needed, so we put one of every item we could think of in our shopping cart.

It’s been six years since we had our first baby, and just over two years since we had our second. Needless to say, there are very few baby items that still exist in our home. But there are a few that we still use regularly. Consider these items “must-haves” for every mom and baby, and items that would make perfect gifts or additions to your own registry.

Disney’s FROZEN the movie

As part of this sponsored post for Collective Bias®, I purchased the following FROZEN merchandise at Walmart to promote the release of the upcoming movie.

This past summer, I went to D23, the ultimate Disney fan club event. While there, I got a sneak peek at the new Disney movie, FROZEN. We also had the privilege of seeing Idina Menzel perform, “Let It Go.” From that moment on, I’ve been counting down the days until we can take our daughter to see the movie.

American Girl San Francisco Opening

Yesterday I had the privilege of getting a tour of the new American Girl Store at the Stanford Shopping Center. Not knowing much about American Girl, I didn’t really understand the popularity of the brand until I experienced it first-hand.

American Girl Store

The two-level store is carefully organized, and avoids being overwhelming. Each girl is presented her own section, making it easy to see and find what the store has to offer. The store also has an entire section devoted to the Bitty-Baby dolls as well. These smaller dolls are good for toddlers and pre-schoolers. It didn’t take long to realize why these dolls are so popular–they’re very well made. This is more of an investment than a toy. continued
