WHO wants to get crafty? DIY Valentine OWL

DIY Valentine Owls

Nowadays I am always thinking about service projects that my Girl Scouts can do during the holidays. Who wants to get crafty? My Girl Scouts do and we made DIY Valentine Owl for a senior church luncheon. The senior citizens at the luncheon are so happy to see fun crafts made for them and my girls love making these projects for them. continued

You say Trefoils, I say Shortbread. Why Girl Scout cookies have different names

Little Brownie Baker Girl Scout Cookies

We are in FULL Girl Scout cookie mode around here. We take our girls door to door and sell as many cookies as we can. Our oldest daughter has a very ambitious goal of 1000 boxes of cookies. Thankfully, our youngest has already met her goal of 24 boxes. Last week I told you 10 Reasons Why You Should Not Sell Girl Scout Cookies, I’m adding one more to the list. We’ve run into a lot of people wanting cookies that we do not have. Less than a hundred miles away, the “other” cookies are being sold and people want to know why there are different names for Girl Scout cookies. You say Trefoils, I say Shortbread, did you know those are pretty much the same cookie? continued

Packing light with CozyPhone headphones

Train rides through Europe

This past summer we took a three week trip to Europe. Each girl had her own backpack to carry. One of the biggest space stealers was the iPod and headphone case. Both a necessity as we were going to be taking an 18-hour train ride without internet. We managed just fine, but had we known about the CozyPhones beforehand, we would have made sure we had them with us. We’re so excited CozyPhone sent us these headbands to try out for our next trip. continued

Growing up Goofy is… Growing!

We are the Bowmans of Growing Up Goofy!

No, we are not expanding our family in any way, shape, or form. I’ll get that out of the way right now. But Growing up Goofy is growing! And what I really mean by that is Doug (my husband) is going to finally contribute to my our blog. Doug offers an entirely different perspective and I’ve been asking him to write about this or that for years. We starting our first blog together as Doug and Cam in 2005… THIRTEEN years ago! continued

Stop overthinking everything and just do it

My plate is full. So full, I just sit there and look at it and then I’m not hungry anymore. I push the plate away from me so I don’t have to see it anymore. I know I need to eat, so I pull the plate back. I push the food around with my fork so it looks like I am making progress, but in true form, I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. Then I realize, I need to stop overthinking and just do it. Whatever it is on my plate, I just need to stop worrying about it and just get things done that I have control over. continued

Ten Reasons You Should Not Sell Girl Scout Cookies

I’ve written a lot around here about Girl Scouts. I take a lot of heat around cookie season. Mainly when my daughter and her troop are selling cookies in front of a grocery store. You wouldn’t believe some of the snarky comments people say… to little girls. My favorite comment so far was “how do you like exploiting your child?” My response? Well, if you don’t want your child to grow up smart, strong, independent and brave, here are ten reasons why you shouldn’t sell Girl Scout cookies. continued

Traveling made easy: Creating a travel wardrobe

Shopping for your travel wardrobe with my affiliate links will give me a small commission.

We love to travel… a lot. Any chance we get, we’ll hit the road. Since I’m the one that packs up three out of four of us, I pretty much have this down to a science. I know exactly how much will fit in each bag and still have a good idea of how much room is left for those extras we pick up along the way. One thing I have done over the years is create a travel wardrobe for myself so it’s one less thing that I need to worry about. continued

Experiencing a spiritual awakening… Or two.

peace

Last spring I was taking my daughter to a birthday party. We were meeting in a parking lot to be taken on a military base where the party was going to be. At some point, a man approached me. I have never seen this man before nor had I ever been in this location. He was friendly, I wasn’t really paying that close attention until he said… “Does your daughter know she was named after your grandmother?” Mic. Drop. continued

Kindness matters: How we are spreading kindness

When we were kicking off the new year for Girl Scouts, I wanted to find a way to get the girls to open up to each other and figure out a way to offer kind thoughts to one another. One of our Greater Ink shirts is Kindness is Contagious and I knew it would be a fun project, spreading kindness with kindness rocks.
