Just when I thought we had moved on from Toy Story, our four year old surprised us with her birthday party request. Move over princesses, Toy Story for the win. I was kicking myself for not saving the Jesse boots from our oldest daughter, but I think we pulled off a cute little outfit perfect for Addie.
Today, I turn 40 years old. Here are 40 things you may not know about me on my 40th birthday.
1. My full first name is Cam. Nothing more. It says so on my birth certificate. And yes, I have been asked to prove it.
2. I met my husband at my college freshman orientation 22 years ago. He did not instantly return my “love at first sight” theory. But I still know it was love at first sight for me.
Yep, it’s my 40th birthday this year. And as much as I love presents, it’s not about me this year. There are so many things on my mind lately. I write about American Girl, DIY projects, and a lot of Disney. But as I watch my girls growing older, realizing they are no longer babies, I can see my priorities shifting. I need to be an example. I want to be an example. For them. continued
So many of us travel to the Disney Parks to celebrate a special occasion. Whether it be a birthday, anniversary, or a “first visit,” Disney wants to celebrate with you.
We’ve been celebrating birthdays at Disneyland for a few years now. Both my husband and daughter have been lucky to get a few extra treats because they were wearing their birthday buttons.
At Disneyland, head into Town Hall and get your celebration button from Guest Relations. Throughout the day, you’ll have both Cast Members and park guests wishing you a happy birthday or congratulating your special day. Emma was thrilled when a cupcake came to the table for her 3rd birthday. Who knew the Mad Hatter could sing “Happy Birthday” so well!
On our last trip, my husband was very happy he left his birthday button on. You just never know who is watching. We ordered beignets from the Mint Julep, and were pleasantly surprised to find a few extra treats of powdery goodness in our bag. A little extra pixie dust goes a long way!
Our sweet baby girl is ONE YEAR OLD today! We have been so lucky. Addie is the sweetest baby. She’s happy all the time. Her big sister, Emma, is her favorite person in the world. She eats anything, which is awesome. She is full of energy, and always on the move. She just started standing up on her own yesterday, and her development is progressing every day now. Nothing is safe anymore. Even the dog runs from her now.
Happy Birthday Addison! We love you!
Our sweet Addie is 6 months old. How did that happen? Our preemie is now thriving. She is huge, in a good way. She has those squishy, chubby, roll after roll, arms and legs. She laughs, a lot. She is happy. She makes all of us smile.
She rarely naps, loves peas and carrots, and her favorite person is her sister, Emma. We’re off to a good start.
Happy half-birthday Addison!
“I’m FOUR!” Our Emma is four years old now. I don’t know how it happened so fast.
For Em’s first birthday our dear friend Sharon made her an adorable tutu. I loved it and couldn’t wait to see her in it.
Two years later, here we are. Now she doesn’t want to take it off. Tutu cute!
Wow! Our baby girl is 2. I really can’t believe how fast the time goes by. She has become every bit of a two year old, full of sugar and spice! This year we had a low key birthday party for her. She had a great time with a few friends and family. Thank you to all of you who celebrated Emma’s 2nd birthday safari with us!
Emma had a cupcake on her 1st birthday but she really wasn’t that excited about it. This year, she was a pro! After several birthday parties, Emma can hold her own with a good cupcake. We let her have two on her birthday. Here she is on her 1st birthday and after cupcake #2 on her 2nd birthday!
