Disney Social Media Moms 2014: the finish line

Remember how excited I was about the New Balance running shoes? Well, I don’t think I was as excited about getting up at 5:00am for a runDisney fun run. That was, until I met up with the other runners who also signed up. But, it’s not every day you get to participate is something so awesome. Running through the empty parks early in the morning with your new blogging friends is such a great feeling.

After we checked-in for the run, a New Balance representative gave us tips on running and we participated in a “good form” clinic. I actually learned a few things that might actually help me on longer runs. We also had a presentation by runDisney where they announced the bling for the upcoming WDW and DL park races. As much as I would love one of those medals, I don’t think I can run a half marathon. Nevertheless, we finished our 2 mile run very early that morning. continued

Disney Social Media Moms 2014: hanging with Disney Junior!

After attending the conference on Friday, we knew Saturday was going to have a completely different feel. We’d be spending the day with our families and the Disney Junior crew. Both of my girls were over the moon when they found out Sofia was going to be there. Little did I know, I’d be just as floored with what we were about to experience. continued

Disney Social Media Moms 2014: conference day

The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration is full of surprises. We really didn’t know what to expect. The organizers keep it pretty secret up until the very end–speakers, sponsors, and special events included. That’s what makes this conference so different from others. continued

Disney Social Media Moms 2014: the celebration begins

After the “it’s a small world” event, I was on a high. It could have been that I was up very early, but I think it was also the energy in the air. The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was about to get underway. We walked into the registration area, and the fun began.

The girls were greeted by several Characters and Emma couldn’t wait to get her arms around them. While I was checking in, the girls were off getting their pictures taken with their newfound friends and learning about the Disney Wild About Safety campaign. It’s a fun campaign that helps kids understand the importance of being safe in various situations. continued

Disney’s “It’s a Small World” 50th Anniversary Event

Last week, Disney resorts around the world celebrated the 50th anniversary of “It’s a Small World.” From Disneyland in Anaheim, California to Toyko, Japan, thousands of Cast Members and guests came together to celebrate. Disney Parks hosted a sing-along, incorporating all the Disney resorts. Good Morning America was there to cover the live event.

Disney Social Media Moms Celebration

For the past several years, Disney has hosted a conference for social media savvy parents. It’s a place where bloggers, big and small, get together. What makes this conference different from others is that Disney invites the attendees. Since they keep the list small, those who are invited have the option of bringing their families. In years past, the conference has been hosted at Walt Disney World. This year, it will be held at Disneyland. Our home away from home.

Last year I had the pleasure of attending Disney on the Road in San Francisco. I was able to meet so many wonderful people, and it made the desire to go to the main event that much greater. This year, I will be going to the main event and I am beyond thrilled.

The conference is less than three weeks from now. I can’t wait to share the experience with you. Make sure you follow along on Twitter under #DisneySMMoms. If you would like more information about the celebration, visit the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration website.

Mom Talk Radio, Spotlight on Moms

Mom Talk RadioRecently I had the honor of being on Mom Talk Radio with Maria Bailey. I was on the “Spotlight on Moms” segment talking about my blog, the recent launch of my newsletter, and of course, Disneyland.

Maria Bailey is a best selling author. She spends a lot of her time helping moms find the balance between motherhood and careers. Maria is by far the most recognized “mom” out there by both media and moms alike. I’m so glad I could be part of her show.

If you didn’t get to hear it live, you can listen to it here now. My interview takes place around the 12:40 point.

#DisneySMMoms: Disney On the Road

This week, I had the privilege of joining the Disney Social Media Moms “On the Road” half-day conference at the glorious Claremont hotel in Berkeley. This invite-only event was created by Disney to spread the word about new events taking place at the Parks, while empowering moms with stories from amazing speakers. It’s hard to imagine, but in just a half day, I left feeling recharged and ready for what’s ahead.

Get your Jungle Cruise map

It seems as if we’ve been on the Jungle Cruise more times than I can count. Because of the colorful personalities of the Cast Members, each time is different. Even though we’ve been on it so many times, I don’t think I could tell you about the route. That is, until recently.

Did you know there’s an official Jungle Cruise map available?  My daughter loves maps. Even though she’s only 4, she can give the best directions. The Jungle Cruise map is definitely one for the collection.

As you are getting off, don’t forget to ask the Cast Member for your free map of the Jungle Cruise. This is such a great keepsake for any Disney fan, not to many people know about this special treasure!

Disney On Ice, Dare To Dream

Years ago, friends offered us tickets to Disney On Ice. Emma was just a few months old and we didn’t think she’d last through the opening. Lately, we’ve seen several commercials for Disney On Ice. Dare to Dream has hit the Bay Area and she really wanted to go.
Disney On Ice, Dare to Dream, is in the Bay Area at both Oracle Arena in Oakland and HP Pavilion in San Jose, now through March 3rd. Emma and I were invited for a special preview event. So we finally got to go and she couldn’t have been more excited.

Dare to Dream brings together the Disney characters with some of our favorite princesses. Rapunzel, Tiana, and Cinderella revisited some of their best moments from Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, and Cinderella. These performances are from world class skaters, we really couldn’t wait. Even Maximus was on skates! continued
